Summer Camp FAQs
Where are you located?
We are located at 9099 130th Ave N in Largo, but because the SPCA is technically closed on Mondays and doesn’t open until 1:00pm the rest of the week, everyone is asked to use our back entrance. The back entrance is located off of Starkey Road at 126thAvenue (stop light). Go West on 126thAvenue and drive to the end of the road. Please drive slowly on the road as there are dump trucks entering the road from other driveways. Our back entrance is the last driveway on the right. I will have a sign out to guide you. Drive in the employee entrance and follow the road to the right. Camp will be held in the SPCA Education and Training Center (2 story building, not where the animals live) on the first floor. This is where you will drop off and pick up the kids each day.
What should campers wear?
Please wear close-toed shoes (sneakers, etc.), no flip-flops or sandals. We don’t want to scare the animals, so no midriffs showing or short shorts! We will be giving all of the campers a camp shirt on Monday. We would love it if your camper wore the shirt every day, this is especially important on Friday when we go on our field trip for Camille's Camps and ALP Camps!
What items should campers bring to Summer Camp each day?
Please bring a photo of your pet or a favorite pet. We will be doing an art project and will need this photo (you will get it back at the end of the week). Also, please save any empty paper towel or toilet paper rolls and bring them on Monday. We will be starting an shelter project with them and will need as many as you can bring! If you would like to bring a camera or a phone to take pictures during camp, you are more than welcome to do that. Don’t forget to bring your lunch daily!
What items should NOT be brought to Summer Camp?
Flip flops, IPods, and games – phones may be brought but must be turned to vibrate.
Do you have snacks? For purchase and/or provided?
Each day we will provide a drink and a snack. Everyone brings his or her own lunch. We have a microwave and refrigerator available in our camp room. Sodas are available in the machines ranging from $.75 to $1.25. There is also a snack machine with prices ranging from $.60 to $1.00.
What is the camper check-in process?
Drive in the employee entrance and follow the road to the right. Camp will be held in the SPCA Education and Training Center (2 story building, not where the animals live) on the first floor. This is where you will drop off and pick up the kids each day. We would like for you to sign your camper in the first day and let us know (if you know, then) if you will be having someone else picking up your camper and which days it will be.
What is the process for picking up campers at the end of the day?
For safety reasons, campers may not leave for the day until the person picking them up signs them out. If you are car-pooling, please write down who they are going home with each day and have that person sign your child out.
What should I wear and bring for field trip day?
Please bring $5.00 for lunch that day. Please wear your camp shirt and comfortable closed-toe walking shoes.
What happens if I need a refund?
Full refunds are given for those who give at least 1 week notice. After that a $5 administrative fee is subtracted from the camp fee.
Who should I contact if I have questions?
