Wellness Clinic Veterinary Technician

Position available for an experienced veterinary technician to aid us with our new Wellness Clinic, which will open on our shelter campus in Largo, FL. 

Responsibilities will include assisting with physical examinations, documenting patient histories and exams in medical software, preparing vaccinations, and parasite identification. The ability to educate effectively will also be very important.

Our wellness clinic will be open three days a week, from 8am to 12pm on Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays by appointment. As a pilot, we anticipate a trial period of two months, and if successful, we will extend services indefinitely. We anticipate opening in May/June.

Position Requirements: Applicants should have 1-2 years of experience, CVT not required. Previous exposure to shelters, whether as a volunteer or employee, is preferable.

Certified Veterinary Technician
Position assists veterinarian with surgical procedures; must be familiar with anesthesia and surgical process. Position also requires knowledge in wound care, administration of medications, emergency care, euthanasia, physical examinations, exotics and customer service. Experience with PetPoint software system preferred. Reports to Veterinary Services Medical Manager.

Position Requirements: Associate’s degree in veterinary technology, Certification in Veterinary Technology. Minimum 3 to 5 years experience working as a Certified Veterinary Technician. Weekend and evening hours required.

Animal Transport Driver, Full-time
Drivers travel Pinellas County to transport sick and injured animals to SPCA Tampa Bay and after-hours emergency clinics. We value high-quality customer service delivery for customers, volunteers and colleagues. Drivers need to practice safe and compassionate handling of animals, and must also be tech-savvy. Ability to enter data in PetPoint software system and other office management systems are part of the job.

Position Requirements: 2 years of college and 5 years driving experience as well as 2 to 3 years animal handling experience. A working knowledge of the needs of different species/breeds of animals is required. Good verbal and written communication skills; prior work experience that demonstrates the ability to set priorities and work with minimal supervision. Fluency in Spanish desired. Clean driving record. Weekends and evening hours required.

Animal & Facility Care Attendant, Part-time
This is a 30-hour per week position that requires attention to detail, ability to work in a fast past environment; thorough cleaning skills and careful feeding of animals; high-quality customer service for customers, volunteers and colleagues; safely and compassionately handling animals.

Position Requirements: 1 to 3 years experience working in a cleaning profession and must be comfortable working around animals. Weekends, holiday and evening hours required. Drug free environment. No criminal history.
